Coleen Christie is the anchor of CTV News weeknights at 5:00 PM and the co-anchor of CTV News weekdays at Noon.

Coleen’s diverse television experience, including working for the CTV network and in her early career as an on-air host and creative director in Victoria, has earned her numerous awards.

Coleen began at CTV Vancouver in 1997 as a reporter. She soon became the news anchor and fill-in host for the station’s morning show.

In 2001, Coleen made the leap to anchor CTV News at Five where she reported on numerous, live, breaking news events including a fatal, charter plane crash at YVR; a BC Ferries crash; a plane crash into an apartment building; and national coverage of the verdict in the murder trial of Canada’s most notorious serial killer, Robert Pickton.

In 2010, Coleen was a key member of the CTV BC Olympic broadcast team co-anchoring a daily newscast, on-location in the heart of the city. For the CTV network, Coleen co-anchored a 9-hour, live broadcast tracking the Olympic Torch Relay through Vancouver on the opening day of the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games. Coleen has also spent two summers co-hosting CTV’s national morning show, CanadaAM.

This job is an honor and a responsibility. “Everyday, I like to think I’m empowering viewers with information and helping us all feel more connected to each other. It may be idealistic, but I want to use the power of television to try to make the world better.”

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and raised in Victoria, B.C., Coleen earned a B.A. degree in English and History at the University of Victoria. An active member of the community, she is involved with many charitable organizations including Friends for Life, Dress for Success, The BC Cancer Agency, Breast Cancer Research, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Vancouver Art Gallery, Arts Umbrella, spinal chord research, Plan Canada, and Orangutan Foundation International.
